The Diamond Springs Golf Course was completed in June of 2002 as a beautiful 6,803-yard, Par-72 course with a slope of 127, and a rating of 71.8. The Diamond Springs course is unique in that the entire course is mowed to one length of grass, eliminating rough. While a "roughless" course might give you a very generous playing area, don't get too comfortable as if you stray, you'll suffer.

Bob Kleinbrook, Diamond Springs Golf Course General Manager, describes Diamond Springs as having; "a lot of bunkers and a lot of undulating greens in a challenging links setting."

Looking to experience a real test of your golfing abilities? This is exactly what you will find when you step up to the # 17 tee at Diamond Springs Golf Course, especially playing from the Blue tees. Staring at you from the 211-yard approach, over a ravine and almost taunting you, is a large green that has been placed in such a way as your actual landing area is quite small (at least that is what it looks like from the tee). If your tee shot comes up short -- the good news will be that you are in a greenside bunker. The bad news will be that your ball is in the bottom of this ravine, that you will nearly need climbing equipment to attempt any retrieval.

Your foursome will exhale a collective sigh of relief when you finally make the cup and can walk off the green at # 17. Oh, and by the way, that ravine you hit over, it also runs around and through five other holes, just to keep things interesting.

It is this challenging links setting that will entice you to come back to Diamond Springs Golf Course again, and again, but the Diamond Springs impressive setting is evident and your senses will be on overload from the moment you arrive at the course. When the blacktop ends on 34th street in Hamilton, you turn onto the entrance road to Diamond Springs. The excitement begins to build with this long winding road through the trees which delivers you to the beautiful clubhouse and pro shop. Were it not for the friendly, down home welcome you receive from Kleinbrook and his courteous staff, you would swear you had arrived at an exclusive private club by mistake.

After your round, you can relax in the club house with a sandwich and a beverage.

You will definitely make plans for a return trip to Diamond Springs Golf Course, as this is one of southwest Michigan's hidden gems ... or a diamond in the "roughless," as the case might be.
