| In The News ... The Course at Aberdeen, Valparaiso, Indiana, a MichianaGolf.com 5-Star Certified Course
Driving up to the parking lot and taking in the views from the Clubhouse patios, it is immediately evident why The Course At Aberdeen is so highly rated by our readers. Everything about Aberdeen is beautiful; from the Clubhouse to the scenic rolling hillsides to the lush condition of the course.
Prior to opening in 1997, this gorgeous landscape was a horse farm. When course development began, the land was kept in tact as much as possible including environmental areas and wetlands. The abundant wildlife calling Aberdeen home attests to this.
To experience a round of golf at Aberdeen is to enjoy golf at its finest. The rough, wetlands, heather, rolling terrain and routinely well-positioned trees result in a challenging venue. Additionally, 14 water features come into play throughout the course. The course includes 4 sets of tees. Choose from the white tees at 4,949 yards, the green tees at 6,151 yards, the gold tees at 6,573 yards and the black tees at 6,917 yards.
Each hole has its own character and by winding through the wetlands and environmental areas, you feel like you're alone on the course. The Course is in superior condition and each season you'll find redesigns or refills of the bunkers. The rough and heather have been mowed a bit lower the past few years to keep play moving.
The 514-yard Par-5 # 10 is Aberdeen's Signature Hole. It is easily viewable from the Clubhouse, rolling down the landscape to a green surrounded by trees and a couple of bunkers. While this is not the most difficult hole on the course, it will test your nerves knowing that your play is likely under scrutiny by the crowd back at the Clubhouse!
Hole # 13 is a 306-yard Par-4 that fades to the right around a pond to a small green. But don't go left either. A bunker and out-of-bounds awaits you there. The other nine Par-4's on the course AVERAGE 413 yards in length from the black tees.
Aberdeen's amenities include club rental, club cleaning, practice putting & chipping greens, a driving range, on-course snacks & restrooms, locker rooms, and a nice Pro Shop with retail equipment and clothing. There are teaching pros offering reasonably priced lessons. Aberdeen also hosts several tournaments, outings, and Leagues.
The 19th Hole Grill offers great pub-style food and a fully-stocked bar. A great finish to a wonderful golf experience.
The average golfer would expect to pay dearly for a day of golf at a course like Aberdeen. But the greens fees with a power cart become another amenity here. Competitively priced with courses of lesser quality makes The Course At Aberdeen a golfing destination you need to try!
