| In The News ... Whittaker Woods Golf Community, New Buffalo, Michigan, a MichianaGolf.com 5-Star Certified Course
The scenic beauty, overall great condition, and many hazards (on every hole!) of the Whittaker Woods golf course provide golfers with exactly what Owner Daniel O'Brien has always desired; a special and memorable experience with every round of golf played. Throw in the high level of service from all the Staff, a wonderful restaurant and a golfer will want to come back again and again.
Golf Pro John Hebb began his golf career by serving several years at the Michigan City Municipal Golf Course before moving to Whittaker Woods. According to Hebb, the O'Brien family had a dream of building a top-notch golf course. They found the farmland and protected wetlands near New Buffalo, the perfect place to make that dream a reality. Added to the mix is the prestigious development of homes that surround the course. Just think, you could live there too!
To play the Front 9, the average golfer better control that Power Fade ... that Slice ... that Banana Ball. It is narrow, wooded, and very tight with lots of Dog-Legs to the left. The Back 9 will change your game again. Although it is much more open, don't let that fool you into thinking the Back will be easy. The rolling hills and links-style play (not to mention the ongoing hazards) create a new set of challenges. Don't leave any of your clubs at home.
Speed of play is usually not an issue at Whittaker Woods golf course with tee times set every 10 minutes as opposed to the traditional 6-8 minutes found at most courses.
Whittaker Woods Golf Community, conscientious of the golfers' pocketbook while at the same time careful not to lessen the overall experience of a round of golf, offers discounted rates on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
Amenities include power carts, club rental, club cleaning, practice putting & chipping greens, a driving range, on-course drinks/snacks/restrooms, locker rooms with showers, and a Pro Shop carrying a wide variety of merchandise.
Look for the Annual Young Irish Fellowship Charity Outing each year. It's a fun and very meaningful Event. But after any outing, even your own small group, don't miss out on a stop at O'Brien's Restaurant right next to the Pro Shop. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is wonderful.
